Wherever & whichever course you 'do' make sure it is an 'Inland Waterways' based course, as whilst the 'engines' may be similar, the 'basic mechanics of a narrowboat' are very different - at the very least - NBs need to meet BSS requirements, 'lumpy water boats' don't. (example : fuel filter requirements are very different for inland waterway boats and you cannot use standard 'boat' types)

 

I believe that RCR (River Canal Rescue) also offer courses.

Doesn't "our Tony'" do courses anymore? If he does we should be keeping it in the 'family'

 

Afraid not - all my materials went to RCR and I understand they still base their courses on what I left them.

 

The OP might do well to read both sets of course notes on my website. They are free to print out section by section for private use.
