huge fire in milton

there has been a huge fire at a plastic recycling plant at miton stoke on trent with clouds of black smoke . ealier parts of milton were closed off including the canal towpath

Fire service will be there all night, they say. They are also pumping water out of the canal, so watch your mooring lines ...

You would hope that if the fire service need to take a lot of water from a canal they would routinely inform CRT, who would send someone out to let water down from wherever necessary to maintain the level? If for no other reason than to ensure the firemen's supply of water continues...
