RIP Greg Lake

Featured Posts

Sad to find out that Greg Lake of King Crimson and Emerson, Lake & Palmer (ELP) has passed on today.

I had a great time listening and dancing to his bands stuff (amongst others) when I was young and mooched with a few nice young ladies to some of them. Thanks for the memories.

2016 is certainly taking far too many people that have admired over the years.

It does give me the oppotunity to share one of my all time favourite Christmas songs:

All anguish pain and sadness, leave your heart and let your road be clear

Another of my teenage heros gone.

Today's music scene is lacking the originality of the likes of Greg.

21st Century Schitzoid Man was my introduction to progressive rock.

RIP Greg.

Another one died aged 69; it's the new 27.

I never got into ELP, many of my contemporaries liked their music but it just didn't grab me, but his Christmas record is a masterpiece.

Was he in The Nice? I remember enjoying some of their stuff during my thankfully brief hey-man-it's-the-groovy-underground phase.

No, King Crimson, Keith Emerson was the leader of Nice. Angry version of "America" is amongst their best stuff.

Thanks for posting the link to I believe in father Christmas, it's the only Christmas song I don't loathe. It brings a touch of realism to the season

Yep it would be one of mine too. If I was pushed I could make a case for several other Greg Lakes songs or ones he sang at least to cover all 8 D.I.D slots.

Indeed for me they completely blew the main act that day off the stage.

Absolutely and for those that don't know the main act was, famously the Rolling Stones. Fantastic day shaped my listening for many years after
