Derek R.
This was the situation in December 1992. We were tied by the Aqueduct awaiting the gang to re-water the channel on our way to Kensal Green delivering YARMOUTH to her new owners who had mooring in the (now filled in) gas works basin. So I took some photos. The old Aqueduct covered the four lanes now reduce to two, and the new, that was winched across into place after the old was demolished, covers the remains of the old N. Circ. as well as the six new lanes. https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@51.5380128,-0.2823647,3a,75y,64.59h,86.29t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1swhJlopzszk4urw56YCjG5g!2e0!7i13312!8i6656?hl=en Different planet . . . Phil Ambrose
That aqueduct has a colourful past, I posted about this recently. I can well remember when the canal was drained back in the 60s (I think) to repair a breach in an old repair after the IRA bombed it. Before the fix the considerable leakage of water was diverted into the nearby river Brent. It's been many years since I last went over or under it.
