Hi to all

As stated above I feel I have a little problem with over heating with my JS3M.

I see there some bleed point well I assumed they are bleed points on the engine its self

I have changed the antifreeze and tried to clear out some of the rust out of the expanction tank that possible may be some were around the engine its self

Am due to change my oil soon as I have done now approx 500 hrs now

However my main question is please what's the best way to get the air looks out.

Regards

The bleed valve as you suggest, is the tap at the top of the water cooled drum silencer. Filling the header tank to above the level of this valve should allow air to be purged. Are you suggesting it's blocked?

Valve can be seen on this JS3M rebuild by MPS.

Possible it's blocked

The lower tap when turned on is showing a lot of black water showing the top of engine is clean anti freeze

Try removing tap after lowering coolant level, to check function.

I would definately flush through with plain water before adding fresh anti-freeze/inhibitor.

My rebuilt JP2M has same coolant in after four years and over 1500 hours. It's still has a clean green apperance although will be replacing this year with blue stuff.

Black water at the bottom and clear at the top might suggest that the water is not circulating, have you checked the pump? I don't know the history of your engine, but if it previously was raw water cooled you could have a lot of debris, silt and scale in the water jacket around the liners - i changed mine last year and was astonished to see how much was in there.

Cross-section of JP2M below which shows where water jackets are. Seem to remember draining down around 7-8 litres from my JP2M engine when working on thermostat, but that included header tank contents .
