The 'proper car' is still waiting to go on dock, once the council stop salting the roads and I can get it to the Indy. The joys of living in the north !

If I am able to come, which is already looking unlikely, I will be in my other car which is small and black and shaped like a Vauxhall Corsa :captain:

Another Can sold on Ebay about 10 minutes ago, this one attracting only one bidder at the initial asking price of £90.00 - possibly as it was described as 'Bargeware 3 Gallon Water Can' so not catching a conventional Ebay search.

To my eye the paintwork looks a bit naff, but the Can looks O.K. :captain:

Dunno if I said this before but went to Wey/Arun restoration shop/centre a few months back.

They have 4 or 5 originals (old but not good painting) and some cheeky bloke asked to buy them for a few quid each. Luckily they were told prob not worth anything but not for sale. The shop person did not appreciate that they are going for silly money on ebay. I asked her to check ebay and be prepared for a suprise.

I note that this time you have not denied being the purchaser?  Can we read anything in to that?

My eye agrees with yours - the painting looks a bit naff, IMO!

This one was seen in Suffolk over the weekend.  Ticket price 85GBP.  At a complete guess maybe 2 gallon if there is such a thing.

Rather than cause confusion by posting its whereabouts, if anyone wants to know where it is, PM me - but don't ask if you have no firm interest otherwise it could get complicated

We also saw Measham Teapot with stand (kettle styling) with a little damage for 70GBP and understand there is a conventional per shape teapot.  We relieved the shop of a pear shape on in good order for 100GBP and was told he has a second one in store with a little damage, but we didn't get to see it.

Clearly this is an older Can, and if it were in better condition I may have been interested. Once again the paint does not look anything special, but I am not very good at identifying painters - I just buy what I like the look of, but sometimes it is only the Can that interests me. I think the Can that sold earlier today on Ebay represents better value as it is easily tidy enough to put in to service and not worry about the paint.

I have never had an eye for the 'Measham ware', and I find it very difficult to believe that these items were ever kept in a boat cabin :captain:

Soldered cans are old technology and require specialist skills that are no longer commonplace. It might be more economical in the long term to TIG weld out of stainless sheet, it will cost more in the short term, but at least you will know it will last forever, can be left outside,  and can be easily repaired if necessary.

It isn't really old technology, and it isn't rocket science, any plumber or practical person should be able to master it quite easily, providing they have a decent heavy soldering iron and the correct solder and flux

because 1 - we are looking for a quality product, and 2 - a plastic one would be too easy to lose off the cabin top when empty, especially if windy or passing beneath overhanging foliage :captain:

The attraction of these types of water cans is entirely the fact that they are old technology.
