Interesting moment at Winterley Bridge. Rode over something which knocked the rudder out of the bottom cup. It jammed at first but miraculously fell back in.

NOTICE TO MARINERS

On the Ocker Hill side of the bridge near the Mosque (or is it a Sikh Temple?) outside Walsall there is a HOOOOOGE tractor tyre upright and lurking just below the surface.

It is a hazard to shipping.

(And 'Thank You' to the duck standing on it that alerted me to the danger)

I explored the Parkhead flight on last year's Challenge and can understand why Victor Vectis's crew might feel other activities were preferable. It would be quite a nice place if it wasn't full of Canada Geese; I've never seen such a concentration of bird droppings.

I'm feeling surprisingly chipper considering the amount of imbibing yesterday. Drank my own boat dry. Then went to Ma Pardoes. Then to the offy!

i must take this challenge seriously one year.
