Starcoaster
There is only 'one' - its a Pug ! Pro's Smallish size Don't need to store huge bags of dog food Loving Good guard dog Don't need a huge amount of walking / exercising Cons Snore Cannot swim Very protective of their 'bone' (even when asleep) Large number of potential hereditary and conformation defects that can be detrimental to the dog's quality of life and health. Buy carefully from breeders who perform pre-breeding screening and don't mate-select for ultratyped features.
AndyV
My first Dobermann was the perfect boat dog. Small (for a Dobe), loved the boat and never fell in but even if she had she was a great swimmer. My next Dobe was no good at all on a boat, hated it moving, fell in a lot and could swim a bit but hated it. Oh, and he was HUGE. Short coats have much less mud carrying capacity too. Trillian
We have a couple of Japanese Chins, tiny dogs (ours are half the size t hey should be) but very agile, like cats. One only has three working legs and so needs carrying on and off the boat but the four legged variety has no problem jumping on and off and proved a proficient swimmer when he decided to have a go on Sunday, Edited October 4, 2016 by Trillian
