BTW I must have led a sheltered life what does SWMBO stand for? I have sussed out what it means, but the initials have beaten me

Tony

Hi Tony. I'm usually the last to learn these! SWMBO - She Who Must Be Obeyed

Ah, now... this is terrible. Terrible. I never realised.

Birthday - Long Live Love, Sandie Shaw (excellent motto and a nicely nautical name - shame i know nothing more)

18th - Candy Girl, New Edition (who? what? why?)

21st - The Chicken Song, Spitting Image. No comment possible.

However, in a desperate attempt to regain some cred, I can exclusively reveal that See Emily Play was recorded on my second birthday (now that's more like it. Ed.), and that the first song I can remember hearing on the radio was Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep. The first Top Of The Pops appearance that sticks is Monster Mash (it was a graveyard smash), the first song I really liked that I subsequently realised was naff was Northern Lights ("The Northern Line is in my eyes, it guides me back to you"). The first song that gave me a stiffy was I Feel Love, and the first album that I bought that I still play regularly is Thomas Dolby's The Golden Age Of Wireless. Which is _the_ great lost pop album of the early 80s, and if anyone disagrees I'll sit in a corner and listen to the Sisters of Mercy until we're all sorry.

It won't take long.
