Tamworth engineering supplies...

Featured Posts

Anyone locally know of a decent engineering supply company the might have heavy duty allen key type grub screws in stock.

The alternator drive wheel decided to run free from the shaft this evening when on tick over for 1/2 an hour after we hit a shopping trolley or other large nasty solid item under a bridge near Tamworth west.

The original engine installation looks like it had 4 drilled into the shaft, the existing looks like only 2, of probably M8 which have sheared. I have tools to drill out but will need new grub screws or bolts. Can't confirm the size until tommorow as it's too bloody late.

Matty,

I don't know of anywhere, but if you find somewhere and need a lift to get there just give me a call or pm me.

Thanks for your offers all , I am now going to have a bash at either fixing or holding the wheel away from the shaft(the bathroom wall is too close to remove it completely) and continuing without alternator belts fitted.

Looking at the shaft, the wheel has been secured by a single grub screw for a long time, the other three only just peep out if the wheel flange holes.

The single one has scored a channel along the shaft and has finally disintegrated.

So it's off with the wheel and re-engineering it asap.

......and hope the sun comes our soon so my solar charges the batteries.

Splendid result, 4 new grub screws courtesy of the very busy Glascote Boatyard. Thanks Sarah and Michael.

Sun's out so it's a job for another day.

ahhhh the penny drops, waved at you yesterday matty, you passed me moored just before the yard at Hartshill, grey and red cruiser stern with no name, though the boat name was familiar.
