Grateful thanks to LH for supplying the photo .............

Big Woolwich Chertsey being readied for her first visit to The HISTORIC NARROW BOAT RALLY Twenty sixteen. The year was nineteen thirty seven but a quarter past eight at night was when "Jasper Hoffman" top salesman at Maplin turned up to install the solar powered cell for the roof.

As can be seen when built by Virginia Wolff and in preparation for the tricky turn around at the junction end, they built a steering wheel just inside the doorway of the little house on the back .... or it might be the front.

Hold on - lets get the BIGGER picture:

As can be seen Maplins have turned up with even more solar panels, but the wait didn't matter as the lads have fitted the maxview mobile phone antenna just ahead of the funnel, proving these GUCCCo blokes don't waste time.

All that's needed now is the 20 tons of cargo which is "Bamboo" a new fragrance produced by another GUC subsidiary GUCCI ............................ cloud9.gif

Surely the 'upsweep' on that reproduction back cabin is a bit too steep. They should correct it before fitting them solar panels!

you said tebay looked daft with that upsweep.

It has to be at that angle for the best return from the solar panels when heading down to the Tesco at Bulls Bridge to bring back the lime marmalade.

Never in the field of human conflict, was this boat seen ....in a scene .... with her two sister boats "Egham" & "Staines".

The boat people were suspicious about getting egham staines on their chertsey.

Well, I've zoomed right in and noticed that the Maplins bloke has got one eye and a Hitler moustache. Now the 'tache fits in nicely to the fashion of 1937, but I think the one eyed look is a bit more contemporary. Perhaps the photo is either a little later than claimed or its a fake.

There is also a large white dribble in his gentleman's area, and I'm pretty sure that was illegal in 1937.

Nice replica very like the original 1936 models. Will never be worth as much with the washers in the wrong place.

Can't see room for modern requirements on roof 2 blown fridges 3 generators couple gas bottles sainsbury trolley ( note proximity to sainsbury adds 30000 to value of home with Aldi it's only 1500 ) wood, wheelbarrow, transit van front bumper, halfords roof box and 2 full elsans. Can't see point of front bit...there's no roof....

Well, they appear to have started to build one but they haven't finished it yet.

Look harder the roof has been built separately with nice dormer windows and is about to be lowered on from above.

You'll also note the boat in front has been made using the front of a pleasure boat turned round to make the back .... errr ... of a Forwards ... ummm .... and an extended ice breaking ram "To-go" ...... p'robably.
