Last night their was a lot of activity further up the canal, police everywhere fire service and ambulances.

It turns out a young lad had gone missing and was found dead at 11pm.

When I walk the dog up there I am always telling the young kids not to swim in the canal, it seems that nobody listens to old fuddy duddies anymore. Our canal is very deep up to 20 foot in places, and due to the rats and sewage station, that allows raw sewage in when it rains heavy, its not a place I would go into voluntarily.

I feel for the family today but also fear the fallout from this easily avoided accident.

RIP young lad, I hope you are the last

It is sad Martin especially as now having seen the picture I realise I know him. This is the footbridge that CRT had to rebuild the other year. Clearly it now needs modding to stop people being able to jump off it, shame people always seem to learn the hard way

Very sad. We were all young and foolish once.It is impossible to put an old head on young shoulders.
