River section at Alrewas

Hi

I received a notice from CRT about the river section of the Trent and Mersey at Alrewas being closed until further notice. Can anyone tell me what is the chance of this being opened again later this week? I am working my way up the Trent and Mersey this week from Shardlow.

Thanks

Philip

The way the rain is falling I would suggest no chance for the next 7 days, and then possibly longer depending on weather.

Rain for much of next week.

We were stopped at Sawley Cut for almost 3 weeks when there were similar conditions.

There's a bit of rain in the forecast for next Saturday, but otherwise not much this week. The Trent is already down to normal levels at both Kings Brom and Drakelow and Alrewas reopened yesterday. I've also had notices from CRT this morning to say that the Soar and Upper Trent are both open.

That's good news.

I was going by the MetCheck forecast which is / was showing a fair bit of rain from now to early July.

At various times I've used MetCheck, AccuWeather and the Met Office. These days I stick with the Met Office which seems to be more accurate than the other two most of the time, and better at indicating how much confidence they have in the predictions beyond the next five days.
