Bridge 10 to bridge 9.

Plastic rash is being erected today (17-06-2016) between bridges.

A tad more information would be helpful. ie. "No Mooring"? - "24hrs" ? - "7days"? or whatever.

It is a bit difficult to give a reasoned response if we don't know any details.

There have been bits of orange netting there for a while, as most of the rings have for some reason come out of the ground, and the bank is a bit unstable. Recently, most of it had disappeared. With luck, they're about to do something about it, rather than just leave it.

Anyway, much nicer mooring below Buckby top lock

Between Bridges 10 and 9 (which is on the Braunston Tunnel side of the junction) is a fantastic mooring, with views over the countryside. Much nicer than the concrete edge and road between the junction and Buckby Top Lock, and nicer than below the lock.

We moored here a few months ago, orange plastic netting and big holes at the edge of the canal. The edge there is a real bodge job with wooden edging that is past its sell by date. Hopefully they are going to pile the section and make it much safer.

It does have a nice view, however when I've tried to get in there in the past it has been much too shallow and we ended up sticking out miles. Unless it's been piled since then there isn't a very good bank line either. We are deep drafted though. At least below the lock is deep!

Not since they took a line of bricks off the bywash at the second lock! Now, every time someone fills the second lock, the level in the pound puts everyone on the bottom, deep draughted or not.

Let's hope so. They've just piled a section below the Buckby flight, so maybe the moorings at the top are next on the agenda. Certainly needs doing.

Excellent. Thank you

The last time we went to that pub they refused to accept a Scottish £10 note and we had to retreat minus food or drink and we haven't been back since! Must have been a long time ago as we didn't have credit cards with us and £10 was enough for food and drink!

Make the most of it, its been raining, low cloud, fog, drizzle and cold up here for as long as I can remember now. Well in the Highlands and Aberdeen anyway.

Let's hope your absence has taught them a lesson or it might be back onboard for beans on toast tonight too! ;):D

You should live further south! We had weeks of sun with no rain till we came down to Englandshire earlier this week

We were up in Wick from the 11th - 14th of June and had beautiful weather slightly overcast but warm, for Wick anyway. Plus of course nearly 24 hours daylight!

Any idea why?

Sorry no but as laters posts intimate the edging (wood) is rotting, badly damaged also the bank appears to be sinking.

Response not required just giving information. wink.png as to duration probably the twelfth of never before C&RT do anything else.

And what on earth is plastic rash??

That rather fetching orange plastic 'fencing'

It doesn't seem that long ago since they put all the wood edging in and upgraded the towpath. I never thought it would last long at the time, and it seems my pessimism was not ill founded.

We often moor on that section and love the open views and the cattle who come right up top the fence. hopefully they are planning to upgrade that section, The orange fencing has been erected before, but doesn't last five minutes before it is removed, or flattened. by people wanting to moor there.

Just back from the pub and we were amazed to see from the plaque in memory of Jerry the lock keeper who was drowned when he fell into the lock when going home after a night in the pub that he drowned in 1994. We remember him being the lockie at Foxton before he was moved here

A lovely fellow and great company

RIP Jerry
