River Trent Alrewas

We are on the Trent at the moment. Watched a NB (who had been stuck here all week as he couldn't punch the flow) leave the visitors pontoon yesterday - he was really struggling and appeared to be at very high throttle and barely moving.

Cromwell lock is not letting any NB down due to the current.

We came up yesterday and there was 2.5 knots against us, and we were riding the tide, so probably about 3.5+ knots current of 'fresh'.

Turning across the flow on some of the 'hairpins' was interesting.

You broke free from the bottom of the ditch then biggrin.png

Turning around was interesting.

Torksey lock is a bit tight. Its rated at 15'3", we are 14' without fenders and just over 16' with fenders down.

We did get thru but it was with squashed fenders.

Back to Newark, then hopefully next week up to Hull - if it keeps 'persisting' it down may drive up and just stay on the other boat that's already in the marina. Got some electrical jobs to do on it anyway.

We are hoping to get to West Stockwith next weekend. Will be our last chance to give NC a good run prior to our trip to the Broads next month.

Got to finish servicing those two KAD42's first though. Turned out some of the belts that had been delivered were wrong angry.png
