Following recent cruise of "Lower Wey" Nav, we feel duty bound to report that you should also stay away from the rest.

Urban Sprawl Before Guildford

 

 

 

Dodgey Looking Locks

 

 

 

 

Overcrowded

 

 

 

Dull and Uninteresting

 

 

 

 

Lack of Vegetation

 

 

 

No Facilities at Head of Navigation

 

 

 

Lack of Nav Excitement

 

 

 

 

No Wildlife

 

 

 

 

 

No Decent Town With Moorings - Only a Big Field Near Some Little Place Called Guildford

We ate twice in there......... mmmm. You are a "number" but very pretty spot.

 

The best food was the pub at Send (New Inn). Great menu and well prepped/tasty grub.

I didn't like the hard wooden unpadded chairs and the hardwood floor. Combined with the 'you are just a number' effect, made the place feel hard and unwelcoming to me. A bit like very expensive skool dinners.

They even made Haloumi taste nice!

Not a huge fan of The Anchor - all very portion control and thrown at you by students working part time for beer money.

 

And... strangest thing, they make you queue at the bar for a drink when they are busy, which is pretty much every weekend when the sun shines.

 

The New Inn at Send is much nicer.

 

There are something like 20 pubs which can be walked to from the boat on the Wey - Another reason not to come!

Found the Anchor by accident a long long time ago from the road in the winter. It was brill, log fire, the works.

Went back in the summer and took friends. Sun was out and so were all the very white bodies. Could not move for them.

Not for me.

Going back to the Wey next week, will give it a miss.
