Bought another engine..

Ended up getting a 1VSH. This should sound nice in the boat, but won't be particularly speedy.. Needs tarting up first, and the seller said the tappets needed altering, not that I could hear anything. I'll have to clean the sump out as this is where Rustons suffer, I'd also like to put a removable hatch in the sump oil strainer as you have to drop the sump to clean under it, which is not possible when it's in the boat. No oil filters were fitted to these engines..

Nice, i keep thinking on getting an engine just to restore, should of kept the ST P66 i had. Petrol i know but good project to restore a classic.

 

Could you not adapt an oil filter for the 1vsh ?

It's home and some work has started, stripping all the stuff off that I won't need. It means I can sell the substantial trolley, the radiator and bracket, the fuel tank and original fuel filter, and the water pipes. I may end up getting back nearly what it cost me.. It looks smaller now..
