Dutch lady & Cheshire Cat

Many years ago, about 2008, when Mrs T and I were cruising the Cheshire Ring in a hire boat we met a Dutch lady who used to hire a "Cheshire Cat" http://www.cheshirecatnarrowboats.co.uk/index1.htm boat for the summer months.

 

I was thinking "Is she still cruising?"

That was Connie and yes as far as we know she is still cruising in Cheshire Cat. We met Connie and her husband, Cor, many years ago when we did the Manchester Ship canal and the Broken Cross rally at Anderton and we have kept in touch ever since. Sadly Cor died several years ago but Connie still comes over to the UK and boats on her own every year, usually in April/ May and she often goes up the Llangollen. A Lovely lady. I think she owns the boat which she keeps at Claymore and they let it out when she isn't using it.

I didn't think Cheshire Cat narrowboats had been going that long. I can't remember when Overwater opened. Claymore have been going a lot longer.

She is still on it, I have spoken to her this week

Glad to hear that Connie is still boating. Cheshire Cat is now kept at Thorne Marine and it is hired out when Connie isn't using it.
