billS
What odds would the South Oxford locals like to give on the chances of Nell's Bridge remaining navigable over the holiday weekend?
Nightwatch
As a past South Oxford local, I would say the odds are pretty high for the lock to remain open (navigatable).
billS
the lock isn't the problem. It's the clearance under the bridge below the lock on river section after heavy rain.
Athy
We may be heading that way (weather permitting). Is there a problem with it?
Nightwatch
Rain? What rain.
billS
The forecast rain. Lots of it.
Athy
Tomorrow is supposed to be dry, Sat. and Sun. promise spells of rain, but as far as I can see it is the threatened 40 + m.p.h. winds during part of Saturday which will pose a greater navigational hazard. Happiness is being deep-draughted, sometimes.

Athy
https://flood-warning-information.service.gov.uk/station/7064 So it's remained steady or even gone down very slightly over the last few days, if I have interpreted the graph correctly. NB Watersnail
The section below Nell Bridge has been on a navigation restriction notice since December, but they lifted that this week. I can only assume it is navigable at present, there are Heyford boats in arriving in town today. According to the graphs I viewed it recovered quickly from the last down pour, so I'd guess you should be alright Bill. I think the problem is what it will be like with the rain this weekend and after. At least it can be monitored on line using the link.
MtB
The navigability of the river section is a matter of judgement for the skipper. S/he either goes for it , or not. Fitting under the low bridge is a matter of fact. No choice in the matter.
bassplayer
In case anyone was wondering, this river section is about an inch into the red today but we got through the low bridge Ok with the chimmney off.
billS
We decided that discretion was the better part of valour, and headed up to the Wharf Inn at Fenny Compton for the weekend instead. The Lancaster Bomber on tap was nice, but it added another dimension to the wind problems over the weekend. We may be heading that way (weather permitting). Is there a problem with it? I take it that the weather did not permit? Trojan was cold and lifeless when we passed (and your sign has blown down).

The sign was rickety anyway, we've had a new one printed, all we need now is an appropriate piece of wood on which to stick it. Thanks for letting me know.
