Could be anything really, Markings on filter body? what engine? I have a Beta and when it arrived it came with a 'Wasp' filter, looks a bit like that 'cept yours is paper and mine is mesh. An agricultural engineers may help or commercial motor factors. Any markings at all on anything? including metal bits on filter. might be just as easy to get one from a car breakers and start again.

can't be certain but from the picture it looks very like the filter in my old generator which was a Fram C11941PL filter......might give you an idea where to look

Tempted to say throw the idiot thing away (I assume its out of the electric lift pump) and fit a decent agglomerator in the line between tank & pump. An agglomerator is a water separator that uses a filter, typically a CAV 296 element that are very easy to find in almost any town..

Thanks Tony, I had thought about it. But will worry about it in a few days if I cant replace rge filter. After all agglomerator does not pump does it, so I would still need to replace that too. Or was you talking about leaving the pump without filter in play.

That looks like one of these, I have them in my electric fuel pump (Vetus I think). I also have an agglomerator before it and the standard filter after! Diameter is 41mm so that looks pretty close...

Like Tony, I do wonder if a filter in the pump is really needed. My pump also has a small magnet in it that presumably is supposed to catch metallic stuff... Not surprisingly none gets through the agglomerator.

I was talking about just leaving the filter out of the pump. The end cap you removed to get at the filter is a bayonet twist fitting with the large rubber washer (and magnet) to seal it so just put it back on.

I can almost guarantee that when/if you get dirt/water/bug problems that small filter will block long before a decent sized one unless there is one in the line upstream of it.

It's on my Thornycroft Mitsubishi 1789cc I believe it may be a replacement pump but i'm having trouble getting a replacement

It is the same as mine, RCR will sell you one, it is a cotton reel filter I have about 4 spare ones. If desperate I can send you one but they are on by boat and I live about 75 miles away.

I can second that from personal experience. We had ours clog more than once until we fitted a pre-filter / agglomerator.

I too use infilters - see posting above - or you can buy from Vetus at about 4 times the price ...

I think the pump you have is here: http://www.vetus-shop.com/electric-fuel-lift-pump-for-vetus-m3-and-m4-p-2981.html

Cost £350. We had ours replaced (on a Mitsubishi K4D) about 8 years ago.

Not if you buy the Facit version form a motor factors it won't. Probably not much over 1/10th of that price, certainly less the £100.

And how they can justify £350 for that pump is mind blowing. check this one out.
