They will do pretty much anything - just depends on whether you have to pay extra or whether it is bundled into the annual fee.

On bronze cover, which is more or less the basic, various bits are covered for replacement - alternators, starter motors are covered. I have found that their engineers often don't know a lot about boat electrics though, and most know absolutely nothing about Listers.

ETA that being said, they've always been helpful and have called in Lister specialist engineers when I've needed them.

Back to the OP: when we first had our boat (Beta engine and instrument panel) we had several occasions when an alarm sounded, although everything seemed to be working. Eventually tracked down to a loose small PCB mounted on the main PCB whose screws worked loose. It took two or three goes to realise that just re-tightening was not enough and some Araldite cured it - so far that has lasted over 5 years. We now have a new engine and control panel so hope that it does not recur.
