I'm in a marina with wifi the signal is good on me back deck but all but non existent inside can you recommend a gizmo to improve the signal in side.

In our caravan to get Wi-Fi on sites that provide it we use one of these.

Connected to an aerial similar to this outside the 'van

The actual aerial we bought from Solwise no longer seems to be available. (It was similar to the one in the link but has a (very poor) suction cup mount and a USB lead.

Works a treat and pulls in a wi-fi signal very well when it's difficult to impossible to get one inside.

Thanks David this is worth a look, just I'm not using a laptop I have a apple iPhone 6+ and iPad

So no USB port, got to be a way I can do this.

You need a wi-fi repeater of some kind - see post #3, seems as good as any.

useing this I can turn my pc into a hotspot and my son uses's his xbox to connect to xbox live through me pc

This is probably the easiest way of getting a wi-fi repeater, if you already have a laptop.

The above works well and the individual parts can be obtained at lower cost with a little effort, I paid £20 for the aeriel and £45 for the router

I am using Waitrose free wifi at the moment sat in the boat some 250 yards away from the store and the skipper is downloading books on her Kindle

Thanks ray that's the one mate cheers.

The router looks identical to the Solwise one I linked to above. It cost me £45.

I doubt the aerial would cost the difference in price of £100

comes with a "pole" fixing ie hose clip,

When in the marina I direct mine between the two strongest signals and use the fastest one (the software with the router has a signal finder)

There are around 12 boats with the very expensive ie as in the first ebay link set up in the marina I did explain it was the same kit as mine but they purchsed from

a flashy brochure in the marina office (supplied by a marine wifi specialist) and paid around £150!!

I purchased my router from Solwise who also gave me help in setting it up

Cheers.

I hadn't realised the router came with a signal finder because I have never used the software with it other than to use it with a Omni directional Wi-Fi aerial.

I will have a look as we are away in the 'van this week and I leave it in it.

I have this and sometimes pick up a WiFi signal when there isnt a house in sight https://www.yachtingsoftware.com/outdoor-11n-150mbps-wifi-rocket-antenna_p472.aspx

That's the antenna I use, Only without the suction mounts which are the weakest part of the design. Everything else about It is fine.

Swapped them for magnets

aye - our caravan is aluminium skinned unfortunately. I have it pole mounted now clamped to the jockey wheel after the suction cup fixings gave out.
