Mrs Trackman
I've been asked if I know anything about Brayzel boat builders. I've not even heard of them but hoping others will be able to pass on any knowledge or experience, by pm if you would rather. Thanks all.
CDS
Brayzel haven't been going long 10 to 15 years I think and come from Lancashire,Preston rings a bell. I believe they also at the Crick show, sure I was on their boat. Sorry I don't know anything else, certainly don't know anyone with one.

She may see this and confirm or otherwise. Mrs T You could PM her and ask. Ed. Seems my recollection is correct. http://www.canalworld.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=38561&p=707339 Edited November 8, 2015 by MJG
Nightwatch
Don't like the way they use distorted photos on the website. Makes narrow boats look bigger than they actually are. Look nice boats though.
RLWP
Thirty boats built by Brayzel in the Boat Index which is pretty good for a smaller builder Including a Quercus - which is an odd coincidence Richard
kevinl
It looks like they've made/have registered 39 boats http://canalplan.org.uk/boats/boats.php Their address according to their website is Bridgehouse Marina on the Lancaster canal http://www.brayzel-narrowboats.co.uk/contact.php I've seen a boat of theirs Hyggelig and it looked good, featured in Canalboat November 2014 http://www.canalboat.co.uk/canal-boats/boat_test_november_issue_2014_1_3838505 K
Mrs Trackman
Thanks for fast responses. As ever, impressed with the knowledge of so many on here.
ian west
I've admired quite a few of his boats (and lusted after 2 in particular) over the last 10 years or so. Andrew has also done my last couple of safety certs and I've been impressed by his knowledge and common sense attitude. Ian
Glynn
Iv'e been to their premises and and they were finishing fitting out a narrow boat. The finish was very good. I believe they only fit new boats out not actually build the shells - so I understand.

My earlier post should really have said 'fitted out by' not 'built by" From Chagall's post that I linked to she refers to her boat's shell being built by Piper. Presumably you can pick the shell builder you choose.
Chagall
Yes Brayzel fitted my boat, he is a master craftsman and his attention to detail, with regard to woodwork particularly, is superb. Precision joints and any necessary fixing screws are hidden, et cetera. My boat looks as good now as it did when new nearly six years ago.

I will pass on your comments but also ask which shell builder is being considered.
MarkHez
A friend of mine has a Brayzel boat, the finish is superb. Only based a few miles down the cut from me, Andrew does my BSS certificates.
