Rope between collar and Flue?

Ok. So I have the collar fitted and am looking to fill the gap between the collar and flue. Best way please?

Rope and night temp sealant is what I used.

 

ETA: that should be "high temp sealant"

I finished fitting my stove last week and used 15mm stove rope to fill the gap between collar and flue. I used 3 metres of rope to fill the gap. Fired it up last night for the first time and all was good, no heat transfer to the cabin roof.

Me too. Shove some thick fire rope in so it's a good and tight fit then, probably from above squash in some sealant. I used non setting flue sealant compound.... it doesn't set, dry out or crack

While fire rope answers the question, remember that there must be NO metal-to-metal contact between the flue pipe and the roof collar (as is found on many new boats where the builder couldn't be bothered to ensure concentric entry by use of a suitably 'joggled' flue pipe).

 

That said, you may be wondering why no metal-to-metal contact between flue pipe and collar is essential - simple answer - this metal-to-metal contact forms a heat-soak at the contact point which is turn causes the rising (hot) flue gases to stagnate (cool) and roll back down the flue thereby inhibiting the evacuation of CO to the outside world ...
