Weaver, to turn left or to turn right?

Hi all,

Tomorrow we have the opportunity to go down the Anderton lift and cruise the Weaver for 24 hours.

 

Which direction would you go?

Turn right and head towards Acton Bridge. Steam gathering on there all weekend.

Definitely worth going some way in both directions, even if you can't get to the far end each way. If I really had to choose, I would go upstream, as a favourite.

You can do all the Weaver in 1 day. It's a great River and much under used. You can go into the Winsford flash to turn where there are moorings just past the last bridge. Don't be put off by the C&RT sign discouraging you to go into the flash. At the other end you go past an enormous chemical works and turn when you reach a very low swing bridge.

Left is very pretty and right takes you past some most amazing industrial plants - depends what you like the most.

Quick update.

We went towardsWinsford. Moored ar Vale Royal super moorings, excellent walks.

We had to return today but I think we may come back next weekend and go the other way!
