I can find the Morris oil: http://www.morrislubricants.co.uk/fileuploader/download/download/?d=0&file=custom%2Fupload%2FFile-1426866750.pdf

I can't find the Rock HD30 spec, Other HD oils seem to be API-CC https://www.tetrosyl.com/tetconnect/oils_-_lubricants/carlube_mineral_engine_oils/YHD020-

Based on that, the Tetrosyl stuff would be fine as both it and the Morris are API-CC

I'll do a bit more digging for the Rock spec

MORE: Valvoline HD30 is API-CF so wouldn't suit some applications: http://www.valvolineeurope.com/english/products/engine_oils/valvoline_hd_engine_oil/cid(7581)/hd_30

Likewise this one is also API-CF: http://www.fuchslubricants.com/titan-universal-hd-sae-30

In reality this type of engine will happily run on any of todays oils. When first produced they would have run on far inferior oils and un up phenomenal hours. Even a new RN will run on any oil as they are very understressed

Unfortunately that's not the issue, which relates to old engines without full flow oil filtration. Here small metallic particles are allowed to drop out of harms way to be removed when oil is changed/sump mopped out. Modern high detergency oils will not allow this, as such particles are delibrately held in suspension until trapped by the oil filter. Clearly not a desirable situation if there isn't one.

Thanks for all the digging around. I'm not a tekky but it is correct that if both oils are API-CF the HD handle is irrelevant?

What engine is it? An API-CF may not be the best choice for many older engines, where a "lower" API spec is often suggested, or even mandated.
