Greaves (Ruston Hornsby) 2YDM Oil and Fuel Filter Elements

Hi,

 

I'm trying to track down some oil and fuel filter elements for this engine. It's a Greaves 2YDM so I'm not sure if the part numbers are different to the Ruston Part numbers.

 

Looking at the manual, the oil filter is a B63331. I've tracked down a Ruston B63331 oil filter, so presumably it's the same.

 

As for the fuel filters, it's one of the ones with a two bowl fuel filter system (fine and coarse?), so the parts group number for the entire filters is YDA-240-12183, but I can't find a listing for the fuel filter elements part numbers. It's a Bosch Mico fuel pump system, so the filter elements are Bosch Mico.

 

A: Does anyone have any idea what the Mico fuel filter element part numbers are, and where I could get some?

 

B: Are the part numbers the same regardless if it's Greaves or Ruston?

Remove the filters you are trying to replace. take them into any good auto factors. In this part of the world one is Jayar car parts and they should be able to find an equivalent to fit your engine.

 

You should then have a modern filter manufacturer part number for future reference which you can get from most places.

 

This approach has served me well when sourcing filters for some really random old engines.

Write the number down somewhere - it's the start of a useful resource for your engine. I have four or five manufacturers numbers written down for each of the filters on our BMC 1.8 in the log book

I would expect that any modern equivalent you find will be of much finer micron rating than what is already there, so it would most likely have better properties than the original. Do you have two filters or one strainer and one filter?

I've researched into the oil filter you need,having got the same engine..

Standard figment is volks B63331 as you say..available via numerous places for approx £70

Other manufacturers are .. Baldwin filters P1575.. Again generally available via Internet £70

Grainger 2ZKV1... Not been able to find a supplier

Hifi filters (French plant filter manufacturers). Available at nearby plant supplies £58

I've found a place can supply 5x baldwins at £55 each or a plant supplies in America that will supply 10 at approx £25 each once delivered...

 

I haven't found a motor factors that have even heard of these filters never mind stock them :-)

 

If you fancy taking 2 off my hands at cost price Id be happy to buy the 5 at £55 each!

 

My fuel filter is a TJ filters FK9366 available at most motor factors off the shelf..approx £2

The oil filter is less of a problem. I think Lincoln Diesels stock these.

 

It sounds like we may have different fuel filters as well, as mine is a mico bosch system with two mico bosch filters (both fiters, not strainers, but one coarse and one fine i think).

 

I've just worked out that one of them is a 9451037406 star type Mico micro filter. I think the other one is a 9451037409 coil type Mico filter. Has anyone heard of these or know where i can get them?

 

Thanks again for your help. In the meantime i will try the motorfactor route and see what they come up with,but if someone already know a supplier or an alternative filter that would work that'd be really helpful.

from the bosch numbers you have listed both cross reference to the below Baldwin filter. The full list of equivalants numbers is below.

 

9451037406 & 9451037409 - Baldwin filters PF950

 

So from the usage of these like I said earlier, should be available from pretty much any good motor factors. For one example they are purchasable from here http://www.inlinefilters.co.uk/Filters-Fuel/Cartridge/Round/FFR-C11861

and their site also gives all the dimensions of the filter so you can check it against what you have.

Hello! 

Just stumbled on this thread having taken out my oil filter and got some part numbers from a local auto factors. I am a fellow 2YD owner! It's taken me ages to find sone one else with one. 

She had a service when I bought her last winter and I am starting the arduous journey of collating part numbers!

Any help really appreciated :-)
