bearing

Its like ours and I think it is called a "Warstock" bearing. There is a rubber "O" ring inside the nylon bush which wears out and can be easily replaced with a new one for a few pence. Once you have removed the tiller of course. The nylon bush can be replaced as well but getting the old one out and the new one in is a bit tricky.

Some rudder bearings have a grease nipple and should be lubricated regularly to keep the bearing in good condition. Which reminds me to look out the grease gun because I'm doing boat maintenance today.

Cant grease mine, its a self aligning ball bearing sealed for life, yes there is a grease nipple but that just lubricates the bearing in the self aligning housing.

Hi this is our top rudder bearing worn one side. Does anyone know where I can obtain a new one. cheersattachicon.gifIMG_20150801_105735.jpg

Dismantle it, and take the old bearing to your local 'bearing shop'. They will be able to read the ID on the bearing or measure it with a micrometer and supply a suitable replacement.
