Wightwick manor - is it worth a visit?

Hi,

 

we will shortly be heading off on a two week cruise and will be passing through Autherley Junction. I notice that we could take a detour down the Staffs & Worcs to visit 'Wightwick Manor' (looks like it is about 1.5 hours from Autherley with a winding hole nearby.)

 

Just wondering if any one has been - is it worth the trip? any hints on where to moor (would be heading back up to Autherley) for easy access to the manor and/or confirm the timings from Autherley?

Yes it is a great garden and you can moor at Wightwick Bridge a nice mooring spot near a winding hole and just a very short walk to the house through the grounds

We stopped there and visited the house and gardens. There is mooring right by the bridge if I remember correctly.

One of my favourite National Trust properties and I think well worth a detour.

Agreed - a great house well worth a visit if you are interested in Arts and Crafts architecture and interiors. Grounds are good too.

I had the Welsh Rarebit in the cafe there a couple of years ago. If it's still on the menu it is simply outstanding.
