Hello

I would like to get the narrowboat painted and sign written. Can anyone recommend a good boat painter who strips to bare metal and removes windows etc. I am based on the Gloucester / Sharpness canal but am willing to travel up to the midland,s area to get the job done. Thanks

I'm in the process of having mine done by Oxon Boat Painters (www.oxonboatpainters.co.uk) in Stretton, near Rugby. Obviously haven't got finished results yet, but Chris has been excellent to deal with thusfar and the boats I've seen that he has painted look great. We had the boat grit-blasted and primed at Debdale and I've got nothing but good things to say about them too - very prompt and professional to deal with.

CTS at Norton Canes have recently painted our boat after grit blasting it to bare metal(we also had new double glazed windows put in).Dave Moore then did the signwriting. We are well chuffed with how the boat has turned out & would recommend CTS & Dave to anyone wanting a good paint job for their boat.

Andy Cain on the Soar did a good job of ours- very thorough prep- Great guy as well and Jan Deuchar did the signwriting for him- have a look at her website.

Would reccomend both

Whats the best paint job on a steel narrowboat a sprayed two pack or a hand painted boat. What will give a good long lasting finish

Hand painted, done properly, will last for several years. In either case preparation is key (!) which is why we paid somebody to do it, two years ago. I imagine Kerridge Wharf is too far away from you, though.
