My 4LW's number is 69845. I believe that makes it 1945. Legend has it that it came off aircraft carrier Bulwark and was used as the emergency power unit to provide steering if the main system failed. However, the paint under the present grey is a kind of buff color which doesn't seem very "Navy".

I've seen Navy Gas turbine engine units finished in a beige/buff colour & engine room kit on Naval tugs was usually a buff colour

That's good to hear. Makes the story more likely to be true. I just expected naval equipment to be Admiralty grey or blue.

Thanks for letting me know.
