Cleaning the glass on the log burner

Featured Posts

We have a fire at home with glass in the door and solid fuel ash hasn't ever harmed it. It is glass I am not sure about other materials.

Fair enough, I was only speculating.

My main point was that there's really no need to use chemicals or special cleaning products.

I loved my boatman stove (northern fabrications) when fire was left to go out it would soot the glass.

Next time when lit the soot would simply burn off so reminded me of the map at the start of ?

The Ponderosa ?

Bonanza ?

Both! I'm only just old enough to vaguely remember it, my father used to watch it, so I had to go off and check my facts.

The map was of the Ponderosa ranch, and was burnt at the start of each episode of the TV series Bonanza, set there.

Vinegar and newspaper works well.

I've always used the ash method on the woodburner at home which works well, but the coal ash from the boat stove is a bit scratchy. Tried vinegar this morning on quite a badly sooted glass and it worked a treat. No more ash scrubbing for me! Cheers Watcher :)
