Cable throttle on GU boat

Every chance of being original, ours seemed like it was fitted as original equipment and just reused, they were an "off the shelf" component back then.

I can see that a Lister off-the-shelf component might well be used when installing a Lister engine in a boat, but how likely is it that it would have been used on a new boat fitted with a National or RN engine though?

It was a general fitting made to be used with any type of engine, a common spare part listed by many chandlery suppliers of the day. If you can access one a Simpson Davies catalogue will probably list them.

GU boats used off the shelf stern tubes, deadlights etc more ;likely to be used in the construction of small trawlers and the like. You might note that most GU brassware was in fact bronze.

Edited to add, when I imported Ruston engines from India in the 1980's they came supplied with a copy of the "Listard" throttle to be mounted remotely or on the gear lever.
