Adding engine oil to diesel

Featured Posts

A year or two ago the answer would be no as modern diesel fuels had far greater pump lubrication qualities than diesel fuels in times past. However the increase in bio fuels blended into today's diesel fuel may have changed all that. It is a pretty common practice to add two stroke in small quantities although I have never seen any evidence to support this. Those that worry about it do.. and have no trouble. Those that don't know about it don't ..and have no trouble !laugh.png

Of course there are those that make black diesel and add a lot of oil !

Does anyone do this ( as recommended in original manual) or is it unnecessary with modern diesel?

The manual only says that adding up to 1% is permissible and recommends it as a way of using old engine oil (suitably filtered).

It recommends it use if paraffin is used as a fuel, (It also mentions the Custom & Excise requirements relating to to the use of non taxed fuels)

Its my understanding that Low Sulpher fuels have another additive for the lubrication of pump components
