Heartland
I attach link to a photocopy sent to me several years ago by the late Jim Evans and post it to see if anybody can identify the image which is said to be 1960's http://i1278.photobucket.com/albums/y516/rayshill/CnlCtger_zpsf8c10666.jpg Ear Shill
IanM
Looks like Deptmore Lock on the Staffs and Worcs to me.
matty40s
......Ear ShillAre you Ray's brother? I think the trees in the background are too close for Deptmore, maybe it is the demolished lock keepers cottage at Longford?? furnessvale
Deptmore Lock, Staffs and Worcs ? Looks like a stone bridge over the tail which eliminates that lock (unless it has been demolished in the last 25 years or so). George ex nb Alton retired edited to add. Deptmore lock cottage also has a single central chimney stack and no gable on the central upstairs window. Laurence Hogg
Think that is Rodbaston lock just north of the A5, the wall still remains today, the cottage has gone and CRT use the site for loading.
Heartland
Looking at images of Deptmoor the image does not appear to tie up, but at Rodbaston, where the lock house was demolished and where the construction of the M6 made a significant alteration the local geography, Laurence may indeed be right. GilesMorris
Certainly looks like Rodbaston to me - I remember that there wasn't much room between the wall and the lock. I thinks the cottage came down around the time of M6 construction. Giles
