Sad loss in Braunston

Many boaters know of or have visited the Gongoozler Café Boat in Braunston. It was originally set up and run by Jenny and John who retired quite recently but continued to live on their NB Hezbela moored alongside The Gongoozler.. Unfortunately John died very suddenly yesterday afternoon, our thoughts are with Jenny and her family.

Did Jenny use to be the mooring warden in Braunston?

That is correct, Jenny gave up the warden job soon after they sold Gongoozler. As with a lot of other wardens she was never replaced.

Well in that case I know her but didn't know her husband, very sad.

Since Avril took over the Gongoozler they have extended the kitchen area, not the most attractive addition but it must make life easier for them. In the past John - who was quite a big gentleman used to appear to be in a small cave at the back of the boat. How he ever managed to turn out such good food from such a small area, especially in the Summer was beyond belief
