All my Stock Stolen

Terence

Featured Posts

Hi Everyone. Just a short update. I met with the Police at our house in Braunston, it seems that the garden side door of the building where the stock was stored had been leavered open. This very tidy theif then closed the door put a garden table back against it with chairs around. The Officer did notice that the summer house and Shed (which are both full of our soon to be non tenants belongings) were untouched. We believe that the items could possibly be in the Coventry area.

Thanks once again to all that have helped spread the word.

As far as I know, we have never met nor have I knowingly seen your work but I felt I must comment.

In 1992 my van was stolen while I was calling at my elderly mothers house and yes it was locked and yes it did have an alarm.

The van was freshly loaded with material and tools (multiples for 3 people). Most of the material freshly loaded at the wholesalers.

To a then young company it was devastating.

Not one item or the van was ever recovered. The police believed it was a targeted theft by someone who knew my movements, and due to the specialist nature of the goods knew my business well, a horrible thought. Needless to say that while being transported to site there was no insurance for the vans contents.

Thanks to the two guys who worked for me, working on an "if and when" basis for their money (their suggestion),a wholesaler who doubled my credit limit allowing me to replace the material and a customer who paid me in advance and in full for the job I was about to do, I survived and thrived.

From the posts I have seen, there is a lot of respect and support for you, so "don't let the bastards grind you down".

I know how hard it is when you have a knock like that but keep going and with all the good wishes and support coming your way you will prosper.

Good luck and my very best wishes for the future

John V

Am i reading to much into your post but are your "soon to be non tenants" also from the Coventry area.

Good luck in getting your stuff back. Like John V i had my tools stolen a good few years ago and as a tradesman they are not only thieving your tools they are also thieving your livelyhood.

How on earth will Terence be able to persuade this low life to walk into a police station with two broken legs?

And if someone had " a good idea" that is was you who wronged them in some way, would you expect the same treatment? (I'm assuming you're an honest person and that the "good idea of who did whatever" was wrong.)

And what if in the act of "persuading" this person to surrender, said person dies? Are you willing to spend a couple decades in prison over a few pounds of tin?

Don't be stupid!!!!

Thank you to all who have passed on their kind words of support.

An update of sorts. After speaking with the police at great lengths, they have now informed me there is nothing more they can do. I was told if I can bring them good hard evidence then they will re-look at the theft.

I always thought the way to get evidence is to investigate but clearly not. I can’t say much as the things I want to say will probably get me into trouble. Although I personally am convinced who has done this theft.

If I could just ask if everyone could still keep their eyes and ears alert that would be great, and if anyone may have seen anything untoward at the house (3 Willoughby Cottages, near Braunston Junction next to Midland Chandlers) early May please let me know. Just the slightest thing may help.

Thanks once again.

Terence

You have my deepest sympathy... My mothers house was burgled a few years ago...the burglar phoned his mate using the house phone...when I suggested this might be a useful lead I was told it would be a breach of human rights to trace the number...I then suggested a few of my choice friends might make a call and pay a visit as they have more effective means than the police....I was warned that if anything happened I would be in trouble...you really can't make it up...

Hope you get some info and then have some useful friends!

Cheers

Gareth

A few years ago my sons got into big trouble, a man was assaulted and they were seen on CCTV, they knew who had done it but would not "dob" in their mates, in fact both were arrested and if the perpetrator of the crime did not come forward one was going to be charged, he had just pulled himself round after difficult teenage years and was in Marines, he would have lost his job. I listened into a telephone conversation as other son tried to persuade guilty party to own up. I then went to Police station with names and phone number and eventually the right person charged. I owned up to my sons what i had done as a degree of trouble arose following my act and i did not want them blamed by their mates for my action--my son trashed a room and garage in retaliation. Apparently you don't dob mates in, I wouldn't let an innocent party be blamed. The Police were not fair

Investigating a crime shouldn't come down to budgeting. But sadly there aren't always the resources to follow through every case thoroughly.

I always feel so sorry for Terrence or anyone in this situation. We had a new tractor mower stolen 15 years ago, the gang had done 5 properties in the area. The police were great, finger print, soc and everything, but it didn't get results for us all. Did get a crime number and a replacement through insurance.

It's no substitute for justice. Hope you get a lead.

Hi Terence

So sorry to hear about this, your teapot still has pride of place in our boat and we still would love to do your course. You have a wonderful talent and we hope that you do not give up as you will be letting these scum win and think of all the people who will miss out on your lovely paintings adorning their boats.

I hope that you manage to catch them soon and get you items back.

All the best

Michelle & Will

P.s.

The police must also be really frustrated to catch the guilty party, then find the magistrate give them a suspended sentence etc.

I'm not getting into the hang them high debate, but when the police continue to arrest the same people it makes a mockery of justice.

I think many people criticise the police, but I know I couldn't do the job. They are human like the rest of us and have to deal with god knows how much red tape etc.

There have been several serious incidents in the village where we moor our boat and nothing appears to get done to prevent these particular events from being repeated, or the perpetrators being arrested. When questioned about this, the local police officer simply commented that her remit was to keep crime figures down, what? By not recording criminal activities is this how governments seek to gain favour by pretending crime doesn't exist.

I just hope that Terence gets his goods back and the thief gets his just rewards.

  • 4 weeks later...

Mary P on the forum spotted one of my 3gallon Cans on ebay. Police informed and the outcome was that the Seller had bought them at a car boot sale in Stonley on the 8th of June. They said that he will be interviewed for more information about the car boot seller. Both Cans are being returned. It's a start.

The jugs from limekiln are legit.

Many thanks.

Hi Terence,

I just found this thread, i'm really sorry to read this. We had our family caravan stolen a few years ago, and I didn't rest until I contacted everyone I could think of that may be able help, including organisations that deal with CCTV - do you have any CCTV cameras (highways, local businesses, local houses etc) in the area close to your property? if you give them the date and approx. time they may check the footage for you for anything suspicious. The person you suspect must have had a vehicle to remove that amount of items, probably a van or a truck. all you need is one good clip of the vehicle reg and get the police to check that. if that is registered to your suspect bobs your aunty.

I wish you all the luck in the world to recover your items,

Jess

Also, email ebay, contact Carboot organisers in and around the area - anyone selling at these events has to be on record with them with a brief description of what they're selling. Any one selling canal ware is a contender
