water pump lubrication

I have 2 LW manuals .

For the Water Pump Gland Greaser

One says one grease cup full per 30,000 miles

The other says 2 or 3 turns a week!!!!

My engine is 1945.

Any idea which instruction is correct?

Having said that the water pump is a replacement so can I tell by looking at the pump which is the correct lubrication advice?

A couple of turns on the grease cup a couple of times during the year, the grease is for the ball race in the pump and over greasing will block up the drain hole in the pump.

The instructions in the books refers to engine working practically flat out for most of their lives not poodling around in narrow boats.
