valrene9600
Verulam has been sold. It is going to Lincolnshire to be restored. It started eventually and was due to be trailered out at cow roast. Means there will be a bit more mooring space at Bulbourne where it has been deteriating for a very long time. Athy
What kind of boatu is Verulam? I know it's Latin for St Albans but I doubt whether it is a Town Class.
Naughty Cal
Do you know where in Lincs its headed?
valrene9600
It is a launch used by BW as a patrol vessel. The guys taking it were not to chatty. So no exact location. Guessing it might be sold after renovation as guy was not sure where it might end up. Needs river location. Not a canal.
magnetman
Is it the old Thames water launch? Robert Ives 29. Lovely boats!! EA still use then there is one in Limehouse and several privately owned on the Thames They are very good boats Like this iirc but Verulam is dark blue. Normally named after thames tributaries http://srb-moorings.co.uk/resources/WB%202011%2017aa.jpg
beardshave
Came past me this morning and into Cowroast Marina. I was surprised how tatty she was but probably a year moored towpath side at Bulbourne with no TLC would explain her shabbiness. I don't think she was ever of any real use so they are flogging her off. Is the flat that for months was occupying space next to Verulam still moored at Bulbourne? We've been hankering after the loan of one down at Cowroast (linear moorings) for a Spring clean but that was a few Springs ago.

I have no idea what the response might be, but I know CRT lend a full length hopper for the clean ups at both Fenny Stratford and Leighton Buzzard, so might be prepared to lend something down this way. magnetman
Yes it is a Robert Ives 29 probably with a BMC 2.5 diesel.
debbifiggy
Yes it is a Robert Ives 29 probably with a BMC 2.5 diesel. No, it was a 50HP Perkins. I know as I used to skipper that boat. I loved that little boat to bits. Best bit of working for BW that was. Debbi
magnetman
I've driven the one I linked to and its just a magic boat. Do you know if Verulam was Thames Water /NRA or did BW order some as well And will they be selling the one cyrrently moored at Limehouse (veritas?) as I know someone who is interested

Best bit of working for BW that was. Debbi A pity it was not "loved to bits" enough to care for it a little instead of dumping it on a useful mooring for 12 months, letting it rot.How much does it owe in overstay charges? junior
Credit: R P Marks . I'm sure I've seen another boat the same as that being used recently in London by the enforcement officers for going round and sticking patrol notices on boats. magnetman
Its in Limehouse basin The silly thing about putting patrol notices on the offside is occupiers could miss them unless they are jesus
Naughty Cal
Googled image..... Credit: R P Marks Pretty littke launch. Could see that moored outside one of the houses in our marina as a day boat for popping to the pub or to do the shopping.
magnetman
They have a very good hull shape we got 13mph out of the one in Henley, with BMC 2.5. Made a hell of a wash though I know its not 'fast' but in a boat like that it is quite impressive

Yes there is (or should I say was) four of this type of boat in service with CRT. I think they all have Perkins 4.108s except for one, which has a Beta of similar power. Verulam and Veritas (being sold). Virago: London area, ex South West. Ranger: Anderton Boat Lift Area. Regards, Lockie.
Proper Job
I've had the pleasure of helming one of these a few times They certainly are a joy to drive and handle very well. They do make excellent patrol boats and are highly sought after as private day boats.
LEO
Used for patrol purposes by the Thames Conservancy - when we (as a Country) were interesting in conserving things. Lovely boats - in those days beautifully maintained. L
magnetman
I think this one is technically ex Thames Water/NRA. Thames Conservancy boats look very similar but not the same as they were cold moulded rather than GRP and slightly shorter. That's unless this one is a wooden boat but I think its a Robert Ives 29 which is GRP. This one is ex Thames Conservancy but too much money... http://www.apolloduck.co.uk/feature.phtml?id=332726&fx=GBP#contact

Lockie Junior
That's unless this one is a wooden boat but I think its a Robert Ives 29 which is GRP. All four of the CRT ones are GRP with some wooden trim and are 27 feet long, if thats any help. Regards, Lockie.
magnetman
According to Jim Shead boat list/CRT license details it is 30ft so I still think its a Robert Ives 29. Verulam I mean. Reg no. 60000 which I guess is CRT's own reg number
Lockie Junior
Okay, I'm going on CRT's own (internal) computer database and survey sheets for the four boats. Regards, Lockie.
