Unexpected wildlife in Birmingham

Here's another. I was working at Norton Canes last week. On Thursday a surveyor, Tom Keeling arrived to inspect a boat craned on to the slipway. He worked away for several hours and then announced that the gas locker, at the stern, not only had a gas bottle but also a large signal crayfish there too! He was sat in some water and was too large to escape through the drain hole. We could only surmise that he had got in as a smaller creature and then grew! No one was in a hurry to help him, the claws were quite large, although he was liberated later.

Cheers

My uncle saw a conger ell 6 foot long come out when a drain cover (in a dock wall) with 1 inch holes was removed so these things happen

Incidentally liberating it was .a bit naughty as an alien species you shouln't release them into the wild even if they were there before.
