blackrose
How about an Exchange page as a sub-section of the For Sale forum? Members would be able to advertise items and services for exchange rather than for money. So one member may advertise firewood and ask for an engine service (if filters and oil are provided), for example.
RLWP
That's an interesting idea. I wonder if we could trial it in one of the existing sections? Richard

alan_fincher
or swap a pump-out toilet for a cassette one...... or swap an Hudson boat for a load of firewood....... (not that anyone would be that daft - firewood is quite expensive these days).

Ange
Edited cos I need to think some more about this ETA (again cos I'm still mulling this one over) one thing I would say is that For Sale implies "I want money for this" and wanted implies "I'll pay money for this". Bartering introduces a whole new concept - one that makes me think I may have services that may be of use in exchange for things we need. (and no - before the wags make their comments - not those sort of services ) Edited September 24, 2013 by Ange

carlt
For people of a less assertive nature I would like to offer my bartering skills of negotiation and brow beating for whatever useful talents they possess. Just refitted somebody's dinette in exchange for a cup of tea and a bacon butty? I can help you get chocolate digestives too!
DHutch
Its certainly a suggestion. I have thought about splitting the 'wtd/fs' section into a wtd and a fs section, but another option is to have a mandatory drop down prefix, at which point you could have a third prefix (or section) for 'barter' . It all comes down to the right balance between sorting things into sections so you can find them, and keeping them together so areas dont get segmented and missed/forgotten. Daniel I like them together and think the drop down would be excellent. You could add Barter to the forum title just to make it clearer.
