Navigation Update - 17th October 2006

 

Currently water levels on the canal have stabilised after the long dry period due to recent rainfall and drop in temperature. This has enabled the navigation to reopen on the Woodham and St John’s Flight after a closure of almost four months, however a caveat to this provision is the current restriction on the back pumping scheme, until we obtain the 'applied for variation' on our abstraction licence. Please check current status with the Office and give us at least 48 hrs notice before any planned passage.

 

A closure notice for St John's will be in place from Thursday 19th October through to Friday 27th, whilst new upper lock gates are fitted at Lock 11 and essential maintenance is carried out.

 

Brookwood and Deepcut will remain closed until levels have been restored and the land slip east of Deepcut Bridge attended to (Note 2 below), this should happen soon with Surrey County Council finalising the method of repair.

 

Ash Lock will remain open between 0900 - 1700 hrs, 7 days/week...
