A Boat Called Moonbeam

Many years ago (approx 20 years ago) friends of ours who lived in Widnes owned a boat (Liverpool Hull, 36 feet approx, moored at Preston Brook Marina) called "Moonbeam". They sold her to have a boat built from scratch.

 

My question is: does anyone know what happened to Moonbeam? Is she still around, has she been scrapped, is she for sale?

 

I would love to find out since we had some very happy times aboard her and since I am now in the market to buy a boat I feel she would be a reasonable place to start ...............

There's nothing on Jim Shead's site that fits the bill but it may well have had a name change.

 

20 years is quite young to be scrapped so it may still be around but without the index number it would be difficult to trace.

Whilst we used Moonbeam 20 years ago, she was probably about 20 years old then!

I'll try to find an old photo, it might have the index number on it.

There's one called Moon something which was sill there yesterday, I look and let you know. Bridgewater registered boats (like mine) don't seem to be on Jim's website.

I've just asked Lynn as I recall a boat called Moonbeam (I think) on the canal in Seend about 3 weeks ago. On asking Lynn she thinks she remembers it too. Now were thinking was it Moon something else LOL I'm sure it was called Moonbeam though, I can't remember much else, but sure there was some artwork depicting the moon.

There used to be a Holt Abbott cruiser called 'Moonbeam' around the Lymm area, has anyone seen her recently, is she still around??

My Parents I believe owned this boat and sold it in the early eighties, does anyone know if it still exists and does anyone have any photos?

There are wide beam hire boats from Moonboats on the K and A one of which is called Moonbeam, was it that one?

Hi, no it wasn't a wide beam, I believe it was the holt abbot cruiser (canal pleasurecraft), I'd love to find some history of the boat as I know my parents would be really interested.

if it's the same one my parents bought it in about 1983 from Sawley and sold it on in 1987 ish.

Hi Dan, yes that's the one, my dad had it out the water at sawley in that year to do repairs and then sold it. Do you have any info of it, pics etc... he always wonders what happened to it. Cheers Nathan
