Tree fallen 100 yards north of lock 69a. Fallen from off side. You can just squeeze a narrowbeam through, but widebeams would struggle. CART informed, might be tomorrow before anything is done, due to contractor weekend rates!

Hi Les. It was the tree with the large branch that lent over the canal. The branch did not snap as we thought, but the0whole tree snapped off at the base! Missed us by 10 meters. They have just finished clearing it. See you soon Ben

any photos, trees snapping like that are fairly rare and i would love a few close ups to try and work out why it snappeddetective.gif

Sorry no photos! Sounded like fire crackers when it went over, but at 8 in the morning we were a bit confused. The tree had a branch almost the same size as the trunk, the stuck out at a 45 degree angle, over the years it dropped a degree or so, so we always thought that this would go, not the whole tree! But it was a Crack Willow so that's what they are good at!
