Battery "thermometer"- how do I locate it for best effect

I have a thermometer/heat sensor (from my MPPT controller) to put on the battery bank.

 

Where is the best location for it? - on a battery side, on a terminal, on the top of a battery??

 

Does anyone know, please?

Mastervolt ones go on top of the battery plastic casing. Victron ones go on the terminal. Possibly the latter is better because it is less affected by ambient temperature as opposed to battery core temperature. After all, what you want is good thermal conductivity to the heart of the battery, and surely the terminal is the best place for that.
