4 day trip between Anderton and Nantwich

Hello all,

We have a trip all booked for this coming weekend, we're all very much excited.

We were wondering whether anyone can offer assistance with regards to water refill points along this route. We will be stopping at Middlewich for the first night, then Nantwich the second night. Also, how much is the charge for water refilling?

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Ben

Anderton. Middlewich, Barbridge one is broken at the moment, Nantwich is probably not accessible because its the marina's not a CRT one. If you were desparate you could divert to Calveley on the way home for water (and turn just before Bunbury staircase locks).

There's no charge for water, its part of the licence the hire firm will already have paid.

For some bizarre reason the water point at Middlewich isn't a 1/2" BSP connection but we took our hose apart and fitted it on okay.

When we go to new places we get ourselves a guide book. They have detailed maps of the canal, along with a whole range of features that you will come across - including water points. These are free to use, but you do need a special key to open them up, but your hire company should give you one of these when they hand over the boat to you at the start of your holiday.

We always use way more water than we think, so we fill up every other day!

I am sure somebody will be along to give better directions soon. I don't know the area well enough to give directions but the Ncholson's guide shows a water point at Middlewich and a combined sanitary station which normally will have a water point at Nantwich, so you will be OK.

Water from CRT water points is free but you need a CRT key. If you have hired the boat then they will have provided one.

EDIT: Forgot to say welcome to the forum.

PS although not an official water point, the chandlery (and day boat hire) place at Barbridge (Midway boats) will kindly allow you the use of their hose to fill up, although be warned its quite slow. And, they might have fixed the CRT one by the time you go on holiday anyway.

Anderton (2 water points outside the service block), but if you're setting off from there you should be full already... Choice of 3 water points in Middlewich (below Big Lock, Town Wharf, and right on the corner of the junction with the Middlewich Branch), Barbridge Junction (no sign of an out of order sign a couple of days ago?), Nantwich (outside the service block).

If you are drinking beer you should be able to get to Nantwich before you need more water.

Hi there

Middlewich, water points: one below Big Lock, one just under the road bridge before Andersen boats, and one by the junction to the Middlewich Branch.

Barbridge, immediately on the left as you turn on to the Shroppie.

Nantwich, at the service block on the right just under the bridge when you pass the basin entrance.

Hope this helps.
