Fibreglass 1976 narrowboat

Featured Posts

If you have the money for steel, it's a no brainer (says she with a wooden roof). Marine ply is another option but it's not cheap, doesn't last for ever and needs repainting frequently. She leaks a bit around the hatches but keep slopping marineflex in and wet rot hardener down the gunwales as necessary. A steel cabin will help resale a lot.

I think you would be struggling to find anyway of replacing a fibreglass cabin in fibreglass.

I very much doubt if you could you would find any great cost saving over steel.

If your current top is completely like expired, steel seems the obvious way to go.

Don't forget though that any costs need to include insulating and lining. Also whether your current windows are good enough and suitable enough to transfer over.
