Laundrettes in marinas

When we were out and about last year, several marinas with laundrettes wouldn't let passing boaters use them anyway. In some cases that also meant we didn't stop for gas, diesel or anything else either, and moved on to the next friendly one....their loss.

We always find this when we want to wash our fenders too!

Welcome to the mad house Folkieboater, you'll get used to the daft comments from some of us on here. All meant as good hearted fun though.

It's a shame that some marinas decline passing boaters the use of their laundry facilities and as you suggest, potentially it's their loss. It could well be that in doing so, they are affording their regular moorers a greater chance of using what was from our experience, a busy facility.

The cost at our marina was £3 per wash and £2 for the drier. As both the washer and drier were the usual industrial type of laundry machine that allowed a larger than normal wash, we didn't feel that the cost was prohibitive.

and some charge a fortune for a very basic wash and dry cycle................frusty.gif

Does Sue still monopolise the washer on a Monday mooring with all of the tea towels from out of the cafe?
