"Not suitable as a live a board" .... why the duck not? our butty is our complete home, its brillant! more space for not having gunwales, engine or propshaft!!

Probably because most people want a separate kitchen and bathroom, and don't want to live in a back cabin, or have pods made- and the advertiser doesn't want to keep on dealing with people who see the price and go, "bargain! I'll live on that! Where's the kitchen?"

The kitchen is the cubard in the middle ... the cooker the same as the heating/washing/drying impliment!!

its not hard to live on these things as was.. people did it for generations!

yes we have a POD, but tba very rarely use it!

..was this boat built to a yarwoods design? looks that wa yto me?

Isn't she built on old ironwork?

Built 1976 by Nigel Jackson, Cliff Sherwood and others Phoebe incorporates much ironwork from the remains of definct carrying craft; T studs, elum irons etc. She was active in the restoration of the Caldon and carried a variety of loads with the Five Towns Carrying Company. I know this is European and not an English boat but it is historic as it has rivets  70x14ft "Belgium barge"

Also has no engine but certainly looks like a motor boat, a zone 1 London mooring but it has to be removed from the mooring by next January. Camley Street near Kings Cross just below St Pancras lock.

Bargain for someone maybe ? Nice old heap of metal imo

Looks like a Dutch Luxemotor to me but they say its Belgian.

Perhaps a victim of over redevelopment of the kings cross area? Must say I liked it honest scruffiness and boaty look personally.

Where is there a "park-side residential mooring" at Kings Cross? I might take a look as I will be there on Friday.

Scruffy and boaty appeals to me too, but how can you tell?

No photos, and no price on the advert. PASS!

Yes sorry there are no decent pictures on the advert.

I am familiar with the boat as I have passed it many times - it is boaty and scruffy :)

David Mack - it is immediately below St Pancras Lock on the non towpath side. Camley Street Garden I think its called - its a publicly accessible mini-woodland and park with benches and some vegetable patches iirc.

Camley Street Natural Park:

http://tinyurl.com/phmcade

That's come on some since I was last thereabouts.

The wonders of "Streetview": -

http://tinyurl.com/oebvvao The description states "Tjalk", which is a distinctive Dutch vessel. That is not a Tjalk. It's a small Luxe Motor, could well be Belgian - or Dutch.

There is a decent aerial picture of the boat on Bing Maps "Birdseye" view but I can't so a screen grab with my phone.

Definitely a luxemotor I reckon.

Good link Derek !!

With no engine on there I can see a bargain for someone ...

Actually looks a bit like a Katwijker to me. Quite a lot of them about very cheap in Netherlands and a few about in the UK. I wonder if the wheelhouse was built in situ or if it folds down to get under bridges

Seems to also be missing the rudder ?

In the appalling duck advert it says there is no engine in there. I agree about the rudder it might be there (more likely than not) but no prop but its definitely a boat which was built with an engine (obviously) so maybe there is something in there or the engine room has been converted to accommodation? .

I missed that bit in the advert (No engine). The Camley St. Park is administered by the London Wildlife Trust

- and I doubt they would have obtained any leasing arrangements for boat moorings, hence possibly the need to vacate.

I stand corrected - it is given that the vessel is on a residential mooring! huh.png

An aside (of sorts)

I'd prefer this: https://m.apolloduck.com/feature.phtml?id=415089

Just under £30,000.

I know this is getting silly, but how about an (almost) proper job!

https://m.apolloduck.com/feature.phtml?id=388276

Just over £41,500. What could you get for that in the UK?

You'd really need to live in Holland though - so much cruising water there.

Blimey. That's a seriously lovely boat.
