There are differences between Ainscough's and Appleby's boats, the former having a rubbing strake the full length of the boat. I think the design of the stern was different as well. This is Boadicea taken after a breach, showing the rubbing strake.

What a lovely photo, there are some differences in the bollards on the front deck as well. Some had three a side like in this picture, then there are some with two. I believe kennet has two(from memory.) would all the A class boats all had three a side?

Sorry to keep pestering you with questions

Regards kris

Princess Ann e always looks a lovely boat, but seems expensive to me for a shortened unconverted "Grand Union".

Not like for like, because only 40 foot, but Sudbury is only two thirds the price being asked above!

Both of those look over priced by about £10k to me, but nice looking boats from the photos.

If Sudbury is seriously overpriced, then I would hate to own up to what I paid for Sickle over 4 years ago! (Probably too much, if I'm honest, but at least I now own it!).

I'm surprised a deal has not been struck on Sudbury, although I'll admit shortened boats are a rather specialist thing.

But Sickle is a uniquely pretty boat. As pretty as a boat can ever get IMO (except for CHRYSOPRASE, obviously!) How can you put a value on aesthetic charm?

All Sickle needs now is a proper engine... ninja.gif

Did Junior mean Enceladus rather than Sudbury? Can't see Sudbury being valued at £23k

I don't know, but as my post he quoted referred to Princess Anne and Sudbury, but not Enceladus, I assumed he meant the ones I had mentioned.

I know I'm 5 pages behind but Ness selling Beech is as unbelievable as...well, me not having a wooden boat once was.

If anyone wants a wooden boat that has been lovingly well maintained over the years then they could do no better than grabbing Beech.

Can you not give Beech a home Carl.

Princess Anne was once the boat I wanted more than any other on the cut but then I discovered the subtle charms and magic of the Large Northwich.

Sudbury is smaller than I need , a bony wee boat however and I'm surprised she hasn't found a new home sooner.

Apologies for not making it clear, didn't mean Sudbury i meant the other 2 posted. Both of them look lovely boats to me but i think they ought to have a '4' at the beginning of them.

I also agree with you in that i am suprised Sudbury hasn't sold. Price looks good assuming you could get it for an offer slightly under the asking price.

If i had ALBION still and was looking to upgrade to a prooer historic boat, i think one of these three (probably Sudbury) would be in my garage by now.

If I won the lottery whoever owned Princess Anne could write their own cheque, saying that though if I won the lottery Id probably need to buy a marina to house the boats Id keep buying. ninja.gif
